Maker of the Day: The Akari

The Akari (a japanese word for 'light') design and make beautiful unique cards, as well as pieces of perspex art, using a combination of hand-pressed flowers and glue.
The petals are suspended in the glue allowing the glow of light to pass through.
New 'flowers' and abstract shapes are created with an almost jewel like translucency allowing the illuminated bright colours and textures to create the illusion of weightlessness.
